How Do I Care for Ranunculus?

Ranunculus are a favorite for so many people, so let’s talk about taking great care of them. It all starts with our basic flower care tips, but here some insider tricks too!

• Ranunculus have hollow stems (literally, they’re like straws) that are fairly delicate. 
  • When handling and trimming your ranunculus, use a light touch to avoid breaking the stems.
• Try to avoid touching the bloom heads with your hands; the oils from your skin can actually degrade the petals and shorten their vase life. 
• Over time, ranunculus can become top-heavy which can strain their hollow stems. 
  • When working with mixed bouquets that include ranunculus, you should place the ranunculus closer to the center of the bouquet so that they will be supported by greens and other stems. This will help reduce stem breakage! 
• Change the water often! Dirty vase water is the enemy of all flowers, but especially ranunculus. If the water does become cloudy, change it right away and then trim the stems about ½” inch to open the stem for better hydration.
